"Landscape dwells large in my
consciousness. From my youth in northern Norway to the painting of my
birthplace, created by my grandfather, to my daily appreciation of the
quiet beauty that surrounds us. The non-personal space around us weighs
on me, as a comfort.
The images I’m drawn to may be a
literal translation of a landscape or an abstracted vision of terrain,
memory, surroundings. A color impression, a botanical image or a
visiting traveler may occupy this surface I attempt to fill. It is still
always about the space, the welcoming space."

William Walcott - His work focuses interplay between color, or lack of and texture. A realist, Walcott uses his keen eye for detail to meticulously recreate his subject matter. In "The Birds and the Beasts", acrylic and graphite are the media Walcott uses to bring life and vitality to his work. He studies his subject and is able to skillfully portray the most minute Chickadee to African Gentle Giants.
